Large Golden Align Cork Yoga Mat

I ordered the large Moon cork mat. Showed up in expected time frame. Was packaged well. And the mat is beautiful. The only thing I have noticed now that I have had it for a month or so, the moon prints have easily gotten smudged. But other than this it is a great mat.

I was happy to find a sustainably produced yoga mat. The dimensions are all as specified. It provides non-slip support as required. It is not possible to make a "footprint" but that is only an observation, not a criticism. It was more expensive than conventional synthetic mats, but is worth every penny.

It's later on in a session when you've warmed up that this mat comes into it's own, the grip level increases with moisture so you don't end up distracted because your hands are slipping. There's a little less grip at the start of the session, but not to a noticeable extent.

The only thing I did think about after purchasing was that I can't see an FSC or PEFC license on the companies website, so while I'm sure the product is likely to be sustainable the natural rubber and cork don't have the paperwork to back it up.

This is my second cork mat from Cork Space. Despite being used every day, my first mat is still in great condition but I wanted a mat that was a bit wider, with something to help me align. The gold chakra symbols help to keep me on track, both physically and mentally, giving me a focal point and alignment. I love this mat because it helps me do the thing I love :-)

I do love this mat, but a lot of what I read about cork mats before I bought it suggested that they were naturally grippy, and that is simply not true. They need moisture - either water or sweat - otherwise they are slippery. I’ve decided that the ecological and aesthetic advantages of cork outweigh the slipperiness, and I keep a spray bottle of water handy to add moisture before and during my practice. If you have naturally sweaty hands and feet then you probably won’t need to do this. But if like me you have naturally dry hands and feet, you will find yourself slipping and sliding unless you help the mat with water.

I absolutely love the quality, size, and design of my yoga matt. It would have been a 5 star rating if the finish/ surface was totally anti slip.
